LAST TIME OUT- A Decisive Victory For Jake Paul Has Set Him Up Perfectly For Tonight

ake Paul is set to face Mike Tyson on Friday, 15 November, at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. This heavyweight clash will see a boxing legend take on a rising YouTuber-turned-boxer, who continues his efforts to establish himself in professional boxing, distinct from the influencer boxing scene.

In Paul’s previous bout on 20 July 2024, he faced former UFC fighter Mike Perry. This fight showcased Paul’s growing skills and determination, concluding in the sixth round with a technical knockout (TKO) victory in his favour. The win not only highlighted Paul’s improved technique but also marked his tenth professional win and seventh knockout, solidifying his position as a credible contender in the boxing world.

He outboxed Perry, landing 96 punches from 226 attempts (a 42.5% accuracy rate), while Perry connected only 33 from 122 (27% accuracy). Paul’s jab proved particularly effective, with 52 of 142 jabs landing (36.6%), enabling him to maintain control and distance throughout.

Perry delivered some impactful shots, including an overhand right in the third round, yet his aggression was ultimately neutralised by Paul’s reach and composure. This disciplined boxing approach contrasts sharply with that of other influencers like KSI or Paul’s brother, Logan, whose styles often exhibit erratic, wild tendencies. By contrast, Paul has refined his technique, as was evident in his performance against Perry.

Paul showcased his power early, flooring Perry within the opening minute of the first round. Despite Perry’s resilience, which saw him recover from two additional knockdowns, Paul’s relentless pressure overwhelmed him. By the sixth round, Perry appeared visibly fatigued, and following a third knockdown, the referee stopped the fight, awarding Paul the TKO.

As he prepares to face Tyson, Paul will aim to leverage his youth and physical advantages. He has even expressed ambitions of challenging Canelo for the cruiserweight title should he defeat Tyson.

With the Tyson showdown looming, questions surrounding Paul’s ability to compete with a former heavyweight champion are at an all-time high. While Tyson’s age has inevitably slowed him, his recent exhibition against Roy Jones Jr. demonstrated that his speed and power remain formidable. For Paul, this fight represents more than a contest—it’s a defining moment in his evolution from internet celebrity to credible boxing contender.
