Lauren Price vs Natasha Jones date announced
Lauren Price and Natasha Jonas are set to face each other in a highly anticipated world title unification bout on 7 March 2025 at London’s Royal Albert Hall. Both British fighters recently defended their welterweight world titles successfully in Liverpool.
Wales’ Price, aged 30, retained her WBA title by defeating Bexcy Mateus, knocking the Colombian down three times before the referee halted the fight in the third round. Meanwhile, 40-year-old Jonas, hailing from England, outclassed Ivana Habazin over ten rounds to retain her IBF title and added the WBC belt, becoming a two-weight unified champion.
The upcoming match between Price and Jonas is expected to be a significant event in women’s boxing, with the winner moving closer to becoming the undisputed world welterweight champion. A victory would likely set up a future bout against WBO champion Mikaela Mayer for the chance to unify all four major belts. The Royal Albert Hall, with a capacity exceeding 5,000, is anticipated to be filled to capacity for this landmark fight.
Speaking to the BBC, Price, an Olympic gold medallist from the 2021 Tokyo Games, has been vocal about her eagerness to face Jonas. Expressing a desire for the fight to have occurred even earlier. She stated, “If it was down to me, I would have loved to have been boxing for another belt, whether it was against Tasha [Jonas] or Ivana [Habazin].” Price remains undefeated in her professional career, boasting eight wins, including two knockouts. She has expressed respect for Jonas but is confident in her abilities, saying, “I believe I’m in my prime, I believe I’m too quick and too skilful… and I believe I come out on top.”
Jonas, with a professional record of 16 wins, two losses, and nine knockouts, has also shown enthusiasm for the unification bout. She emphasized her ambition to secure more titles and participate in significant fights, noting the ease of arranging this matchup given their shared affiliations with Sky and Boxxer. Jonas remarked, “As soon as I won the world titles in Cardiff, I wanted more belts. I want to be in the biggest fights.”
This showdown between two of Britain’s most accomplished female boxers is poised to be a defining moment in the sport, with both athletes aiming to cement their legacies and take a substantial step toward undisputed status in the welterweight division.
