“I want my revenge.” Daniel Dubois crashes Usyk’s victory interview

‘Rule the ring. Boxing is back for video gamers. With innovative, authentic gameplay and an incredible roster UNDISPUTED is out now for PS5, XBOX X|S and PC’

Daniel Dubois interrupted Oleksandr Usyk’s victory speech, boldly declaring his desire for revenge after his loss to the Ukrainian champion in 2023. The Brit stepped into the ring following Usyk’s unanimous decision victory over Tyson Fury, reigniting the tension between the two fighters.

The last fight between Dubois and Usyk took place on 26 August 2023 in Wroclaw, Poland. Usyk was defending his WBA (Super), IBF, and WBO heavyweight titles against the young British challenger. The bout ended in a ninth-round TKO victory for Usyk, reaffirming his position as one of the most dominant forces in heavyweight boxing.

However, the fight was not without controversy. In the fifth round, Dubois landed a powerful body shot that sent Usyk to the canvas. Referee Luis Pabon ruled it a low blow, allowing Usyk time to recover. The decision sparked widespread debate, with many arguing that the punch was borderline and could have been considered a legitimate knockdown. The moment introduced an air of controversy that overshadowed the remainder of the fight.

Despite this setback, Usyk showcased his trademark resilience, technical prowess, and superior ring IQ. He regained control in the later rounds, using his exceptional movement and precision to outmanoeuvre Dubois. In the ninth round, Usyk unleashed a flurry of punches that overwhelmed the British challenger, forcing the referee to step in and stop the fight.

Dubois, who entered as an underdog, demonstrated flashes of his immense power and potential throughout the contest. Since then, Dubois has rebounded spectacularly, defeating Anthony Joshua in dominant fashion to claim the IBF heavyweight title. However, the memory of the fifth-round incident against Usyk continues to fuel his calls for a rematch.

Following his victory over Fury, Usyk addressed Dubois directly in the ring, stating his readiness for a second clash. The exchange has only heightened anticipation for what could be another electrifying encounter. Meanwhile, Fury’s absence from the post-fight interviews and promoter Frank Warren’s description of Fury’s defeat as “a disgrace” added further intrigue to an already dramatic evening.
